Have your last Savannah Parent's Meeting - Pass out final itineraries with phone numbers of all the places your are touring, lodging phone numbers, the designated cell phone number for the trip and the name and phone number of the Emergency Contact Person. Permission slips can also be signed. All health forms and fees should be turned in by this time.

Call every place that you have made reservations and re-confirm - It is not unusual for the reservations that you made to have gotten lost or confused so it is better to find out ahead of time and make corrections now instead of when you get there. You will need to have on hand the contact name, date and confirmation number of each reservation.

Double Check with Council to make sure that all your paperwork is complete - Sometimes things get left out or misplaced and it's better to find out thirty days ahead rather than two.

Make sure that all your vehicles are travel ready - The last thing you want on the road is a broken down car or van. You can download Vehicle Safety Tips for Great Trips to help prepare your vehicles and drivers for the trip.

Withdraw funds needed from the bank - Allow enough cash for emergencies, gratuities and small food purchases. Put the remainder in Traveler's checks for security.   A credit card or money card is even better but make sure that you have a backup. Credit cards can be lost or stolen and you don't want to be stranded with no money.

Gather together miscellaneous items for the trip - You will need items such as scissors, tape, magic markers, extra film, extra batteries, pencils, sharpeners and shopping bags to store purchases in.

Have the food for the trip turned in - You will need to do this ahead of time so that it can be packed properly.

Remind the girls again of proper conduct and safety precautions - Answer any questions that they may have (and they will!)

Make up or buy things for the girls to do on the trip - Also if your vehicle has a DVD player you can bring movies for the girls to watch. I would advise against Ipods because not only can they be lost or stolen, they isolate the girls from each other. They should be doing things that they can do as a group not individually.

Check for highway construction going on that might hinder your travel - A flyer for Florida road construction conditions can be found at the library. You can also go online and check these websites: Florida Department of Transportation  and Georgia Traffic Information.

About a week before check the weather forecast - These are some good sites: Weather.com and Weather Underground.
