on Girl Scouting

Girl Scouts is the preeminent organization in the world committed to helping girls grow strong...in mind, body and spirit. All girls -- ages 5-17 - can discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together through exciting Girl Scout experiences including, high adventure activities, community service projects, cultural exchange, sports skill building, environmental awareness, career exploration and travel.

The purpose of Girls Scouts is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct , patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. The Girl Scout program is based on the Promise and Law...

Girl Scouting is open to ALL girls regardless of racial, religious, social, ethnical, economical or special needs factors. However without leaders there can not be troops to put the girls in. Girl Scouts depends on committed and motivated volunteers to serve as leaders to provide quality program to girls. We need leaders to help our girls grow strong. The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try, to serve God and my Country, to help people at all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be; honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do. And to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place and be a sister to every other Girl Scout.

In the state of Florida, Girl Scouts are divided up into Councils. Girl Scouts of Citrus Council (GSCC) serves the Central Florida area and covers six counties: Brevard, Orange, Osceola Seminole, Volusia and Lake.

Each county is divided up into Service Units which cover an area that includes several elementary, middle and high schools.

At each school there are several troops divided up by age level. Elementary schools have Daisys, Brownies and Juniors, middle schools have Cadettes and high Schools have Seniors and Ambassadors . At the age of 18 a girl can be an assistant leader.

Each troop consists of a Leader (01) and one or more CO-Leaders (02) both of whom are volunteers. Troop sizes can be anywhere from five to twenty girls.

The Six Levels in Girl Scouting

Beginning this year there will be six levels of Girl Scouts. After surveying thousands of girls, GSUSA has realigned it's program to reflect what they really want. For more information on the new program please see the New Leadership Development Model.
