Summary
-
As a Service Unit,
our goal is to provide support and additional training to
Girl Scout leaders as they bring the Girl Scout program to
the girls in their troops. To further enhance this effort,
we have established an Awards Advisory Committee to aid our
leaders in the Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Levels
as they earn the highest awards at these levels: the Bronze,
Silver and Gold Awards.
-
The purpose of the
committee is to offer guidance and assistance as leaders
navigate their way through understanding requirements,
implementing them, and working with each girl as she selects
her project and work to complete the requirements of the
award, including the delivery and reporting of the final
award project.
-
While these award
must be entirely GIRL DRIVEN, it is the
responsibility of each troop leader to work with the girls
to guide them as they work through the process. The girls
must first have the desire to earn the award, and then be
willing to follow the program through the various steps.
-
The Advisory
Committee is now in place to provide an additional resource
to our leaders, and to lend direction on keeping the program
as intended and designed. The award should be a valuable
learning and growing experience for the girls, a step above
the comfort zone, and meaningful if the girls follow the
program properly.
|
Target
-
The Advisory
Committee is comprised of three experienced Service Unit
Team Member Leaders who have volunteered to provide leaders
a resource while steering the girls in the right direction
as they are earning the awards. There are resources and
recommendations given by GSUSA, Age Level handbooks, as well
as Citrus Council to consider and follow. The Advisory
Committee will be able to assist you with interpretation and
coordination of all information available for your award.
-
Our goal is to
provide each leader with a network of other leaders within
the Service Unit who are working on awards at the same time
to enable you to share ideas and information. We would also
like to provide a network of leaders who have previously
guided girls as they earned the awards to provide even more
knowledge and experience for you to share in.
